The Lunar New Year is based on the lunar calendar or moon cycles. One of the most important holidays in China, it is usually celebrated for 16 days in January and/or February across East and Southeast Asia, as well as in Eastern and Southeastern Asian cultures around the globe. Feasting and celebrating with family and friends are integral to the celebrations, which end in the Lantern Festival. 2023 is recognized as the year of the Rabbit, a symbol in Chinese astrology. This year's Lunar Year is January 22.
