Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee

The Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee addresses graduate student recruitment strategies, graduate student retention strategies, makes recommendations concerning ways to make the University a welcoming and supportive place for graduate students and faculty and staff development initiatives to contribute to retention. This Committee reviews proposals for new graduate certificates and parameters for what should be included in graduate course syllabi. 

Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee Structure

The seven-member MFA Committee includes:

  • four elected representatives of the McNichols campus faculty from departments with graduate programs.
  • one faculty member from a graduate program selected by the MFA from among its members.
  • two non-voting administrative representatives, one from the Office of the Registrar and one from the Office of Admissions.

  • Academic Integrity Toolkit: Build a resource kit for departments and faculty outlining expectations on plagiarism, citation, and disciplinary consequences - include training or workshops.
  • Review and Clarify Graduate Academic Standing Policies: Develop shared language and guidance around academic probation, dismissal, and reinstatement processes at the graduate level to improve clarity and student communication.
  • Draft Graduate Faculty Advising Best Practices: Collaboratively draft a non-binding set of best practices for advising graduate students, especially for new faculty or interdisciplinary programs.
  • Create a Cross-Program Resource for Supporting At-Risk Graduate Students: Gather and compile examples of departmental practices that have improved retention and student success for graduate students. Share these as a menu of ideas for programs to consider.
