Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee

The Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee addresses graduate student recruitment strategies, graduate student retention strategies, makes recommendations concerning ways to make the University a welcoming and supportive place for graduate students and faculty and staff development initiatives to contribute to retention. This Committee reviews proposals for new graduate certificates and parameters for what should be included in graduate course syllabi. 

Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee Structure

The seven-member MFA Committee includes:

  • four elected representatives of the McNichols campus faculty from departments with graduate programs.
  • one faculty member from a graduate program selected by the MFA from among its members.
  • two non-voting administrative representatives, one from the Office of the Registrar and one from the Office of Admissions.

2024-2025 Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee Charges

  • After the Associate Vice President for Academic Administration presents the proposed Scheduling Policy for review and support, develop guidelines for scheduling standards referenced in the proposed Scheduling Policy:
    • UDM Standard Time Slots for Graduate Programs (may differ by campus)
    • UDM Defined Parts of Term for Graduate Programs (may differ by campus)
    • UDM Standard Class Sizes for Graduate Programs (may differ by campus/college/school)
    • Plans of Study (collect examples of graduate program plans of study from each school/college to be shared on the Registrar’s Resource webpage for faculty and staff)
  • Share guidelines for graduate program scheduling standards with the Registrar’s Office to assist them in defining “standards” included in the Scheduling Policy.
  • Review the following Academic Policies and Procedures listed in the Graduate Catalog and make recommendations for any needed updates and/or revisions:
    • Academic Standards
    • Academic Warning
    • Academic Probation
    • Academic Dismissal
    • Collect written procedures, from each School/College that govern the appeals process for an academic dismissal from a graduate program
    • Academic Renewal
  • Finalize the checklist, developed in conjunction with the Undergraduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee, for Guidelines for Certificate Proposals to assist authors in drafting a proposal to ensure accuracy and completeness.
