Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee

The Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee addresses graduate student recruitment strategies, graduate student retention strategies, makes recommendations concerning ways to make the University a welcoming and supportive place for graduate students and faculty and staff development initiatives to contribute to retention. This Committee reviews proposals for new graduate certificates and parameters for what should be included in graduate course syllabi. 

Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee Structure

The seven-member MFA Committee includes:

  • four elected representatives of the McNichols campus faculty from departments with graduate programs.
  • one faculty member from a graduate program selected by the MFA from among its members.
  • two non-voting administrative representatives, one from the Office of the Registrar and one from the Office of Admissions.

2021-2022 Graduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee Charges

  1. Update template/guidelines for new certificate proposals.
  2. Develop guidelines/standards for online/hybrid courses (with Undergraduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee and in consultation with ODE/CETL).
  3. Collaborate with members of the Academic Leadership Team micro-credential workgroup to develop guidelines for micro-credentials and badges.
  4. Develop a list of best practices/guidelines for online/hybrid courses (with Undergraduate Standards and Enrollment Management Committee and in consultation with ODE/CETL) for faculty and college/school use.

2021-2022 Standing Charges for All Committees and Teams

  1. Review the preliminary charges for 2021-2022 and contact Provost/VPAA academicaffairs@udmercy.edu  with any additional Committee/Team goals for the 2021-2022 year.
  2. Review the Roles and Responsibilities for MFA Committees and University Teams.
  3. Review the University of Detroit Mercy 2019-2024 Strategic Plan.
  4. Review the Shared Governance webpage to determine information provided for the specific Team or Committee is accurate.
  5. Keep the University community informed of Committee/Team activities by providing mid-year and annual reports to be posted to the Shared Governance webpage. The secretary of the committee is responsible for sending these documents to sharedgovernance@udmercy.edu.
  6. Submit proposals, recommendations, or documents for consideration by the Shared Governance Clearinghouse to the Provost/VPAA and the MFA President for review and discussion.
